How do I change my blog title and tagline?

January 11, 2010 by Stephen Narwold

Your blog title is the ALL CAPS text (usually your first and last name) on the top header of your blog.  The tagline is the text underneath that could read “Just another blog” if you haven’t changed it.

I would recommend that you keep your name as the blog title.  This is best for search engines and other functions of your blog that use the title to identify who you are.  Catchy titles are not very effective if people do not instantly recognize who you are.

The tagline underneath your names are almost always best if they contain the word “you”  or “your” rather than something self-centered.  Examples: “connecting you to tribal missions” or “your missionaries in training”

So, to make your title and tagline most helpful to your site visitors:

  1. Login to your WordPress admin
  2. Scroll down until you can see “Settings” on the left-hand menu
  3. Click on “General” directly underneath
  4. Fill in the Title and tagline fields and “Save” your changes
