How do I allow people to comment on my blog posts?

September 3, 2009 by Stephen Narwold

To enable comments across your blog, go to “Discussion” under the Settings menu. Next to the “Default article settings” check the box next to “Allow people to post comments on the article.”

I would also recommend unchecking “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” under “Other comment settings.”  Your moderation setting still allow you to approve comments first and not requiring a login makes it easier and therefore more likely that visitors will comment.

“Remember to “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.

When you are editing individual pages or posts, notice if the “Allow comments on this post” box is checked under the “Discussion” subheading. If you don’t see the “Discussion” subheading in posts, check under “Screen Options” at the top right of your screen to see if you turned it off.
