Can I add a page to my Ethnos360 Blog?

September 3, 2009 by Stephen Narwold

Yes …and no.  You can add a page, but it will not show up in your top level menu, or tab menu.  It will only show up if you choose to use a page widget or put a link to it in a text widget.

Have you ever visited a Wal-Mart store and they put the food section in a different place than back home? How much would you value the bathrooms being in a different location in each store? Or how about your favorite chain restaurant like Olive Garden or Starbucks – how much would you like to discover different menus and food at each location?

Keeping Ethnos360 Blogs  consistent is a way of helping site visitors find their way around more easily.  Your top level menu should be : Blog Home, About, Give, Photos, Subscribe, Contact.   (If it does not appear that way, please email the Ethnos360 Blog Help Desk: blog_support@ntm.org )

The primary way to help blog visitors locate the content they want is by providing a blog search tool and using categories and tags in each blog post.

It would be nice to have a few more options, that we could enable or disable as required. Such as Prayers, Photos, Prayer Letters, ect. Would it be hard to enable these as options?

A question reguarding your “Wal-mart” comparison, how many people surf different myMinistry blogs? It seems more likely that they would only go to the missionaries they know. Perhaps only one or two…

Google Analytics shows that myMinistry blog visitors often do visit more that one site. Ministry partners who connect further than one person deep are much more likely to give more and be more loyal. A certain amount of menu consistency such as the top-menu pages are helpful to site visitors. Categories is the place to show a little more uniqueness in what you blog about.

So…if I wanted to add some kind of page or maybe even a facebook badge type thing, but for my wife’s personal blog how would I do something like that? I love to have some sort of graphic in the sidebar that is hyper-linked to her personal blog…is that possible?

The area of your blog you can customize is the right sidebar, and that area is controlled by “widgets.” Widgets are found under your Dashboard’s left “Appearance” tab. To find out how to add a Facebook badge to your right sidebar go to the myMinistry Help Desk and search for “Facebook.”
