How do I get the second row of options/icons at the top of the text box?

October 6, 2009 by Stephen Narwold

** This applies only to the classic editor, or a classic editor block in the Gutenberg Block editor

One of your icons to the right of the top row looks like a color pallet.  It is known as the “Kitchen Sink.”  If you click that you will see two rows of icons.

The second row includes helpful tools like text formating and options to “Paste as Plain Text” or “Paste from Word.”  Both those options strip out code that is not compatible for display in a web browser.

One word of caution.  Go easy on the formatting.  It is generally best to use formatting minimally, and only as labeled.

Remember, your site is not for you. –It’s for your site visitors.
